Thanks for the reply Robert. It is nice to have a comment from a stand Guru. I think that I will be going with MDF but I will seal the heck out of it first.

My buddy has soome router bits for making raised panel cabinet doors so he can make the doors excatly the size that I want. and I don't realy care for contrasting woodgrain with solid.

What I was thinking of doing is getting him to cut all of the peices first, then paint them with a couple of coats and then get him to assemble them and touch up the nail holes.
