Default Freshwater dipping live rock

I got Dino's in my tank so I'm restarting it. I would like to use the same live rock and apparently a quick freshwater dip of the live rock will instantly kill Dino's.

Has anyone tried this before? I will surely get some die off from the live rock but I'm just not sure how much. I'm adding new live rock to the new setup so if I dip my current rock and add it to the new live rock would my tank go through a big cycle?

Sand is going to be replaced and tank fully cleaned out to make sure no Dino bacteria is left over.

Thanks
