UV Sterilizer question

A coralife turbo x3 came with my tank and I haven't put it on my tank because I know it needs a new bulb.
My first question. Is there a cheaper same watt bulb then the $30 replacement or is it a special bulb and I need the coralife one?
Second question. If it kills algae will I not get coralline algae?
