Hmm, aluminum or oak
Either would look very nice. I like the idea of it being recessed into the edging. Get on it, we want to see  If you decide to make the top of the fixture really flush, these PC fan grilles catch lots of dust and then you just vacuum them off I run them on my office tower and they don't create extra noise, even at 1600rpm
