External Overflow Question

I have seen several threads about notching glass to facilitate an external overflow box.

I am planning to do the same on the end pane of my 130 gallon.

According to the attached diagram, which option would you use and why?

I want the most stable method without lowering the integrity of my glass.

Your thoughts?
