For sure, not only to help keep things cool but also to have a fresh oxygen supply for the aquarium.

I would filter it if it is coming from outside and make sure it's not too cold. You can easily lower the temp of your tank with little effort if the air is too cold.

I am still pondering having a close looped system for air on my next system, drawing air from outside and pushing it back out again like you are thinking. However I am leaning towards just pulling filtered, cool air from my basement cold room and having it exhaust to the furnace room. I don't know if outside air is totally necessary or not, still reading/searching.
