I would still recommend the ALS for what you get for the price they supplied all the plumbing pieces as well.
Here's what they supplied with the reactor.




But it's just basically media kind of like bio balls sealed in an acrylic tube with 3 holes tapped for the fittings. If your handy with acrylic it probably wouldn't be to hard to make.
