DI water

hi i just got a Di unit the one by aquarium pharmaseuticles off a buddy for free because he has Ro for his house and has no use for it. Anyways does anyone else us this unit? and how well does it work?? Silacate remove, will this do? Im currantly using just treated tap water which has been working really well for the past two years. But since i got this unit i was thinking i might try it. My question to everyone is, is it worth it to use this??
