They are very adaptable, but extreamly sensitive to sudden changes in salinity. The salt in expelled through the leaves and that's why you need to keep them clean. If not, they won't be able to exchange gas properly and won't do well.

Shaun - I didn't see it clearly defined as to how to "acclimate" them, it states it needs to be done, but doesn't define how to do so

do I just water it with a half and half and slowly increase that?
