I dont think he used the word in the sense you thought,"gobbly-gook",just a slang or phrase to mean mixed up.

I'm know that you are correct. Many people use "gobbly gook" as a slang term for mixed up. (I only pointed it out in my first post as not being propper English. Nothing more!)

Bob would not mean anything other than that.
