The FTOTM would like to showcase a diverse collection of tanks. Featuring the same tank over and over as it matures precludes the inclusion of other tanks. The old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words is appropriate in this situation. Basically, we are looking for tanks that will visually inspire other reefkeepers. Yes, a newly set up tank is wonderful for the new tank owner to marvel over, look at and tinker with. But in the long run, a newly set up tank is often a pile of rock, maybe a fish or two, some teeny tiny frags, and perhaps some fancy equipment which may not be anything special for others to look at. At six months, the corals have grown at least somewhat, if reef chemistry is carefully tended, and the tank is a more pleasing sight for others to marvel at. And if such a tank is chosen by the FTOTM Committee, the owner of the tank will have the opportunity to show off a more mature tank as well as discuss all the things he/she might have differently in the write up on the tank's features. As well, pics of the tank's growth progression over the months could certainly be included in the pics sections. Hope that helps answer your question ![]() |
