R/O unit, please help me choose.
Hi,
I don't have my RO/DI yet...but it should be arriving soon.
I chose the 100 GPD RO/DI that they have for sale at aquariumpros at $269. I chose that one because I needed a RO/DI. The DI section is quite important and it maybe something you want to consider. The DI section removes any trace elements that the RO missed.
For the most part, all RO membranes are about the same. So it comes down to quality construction, price and number of stages. If you live in an area that has lots of sediment (like well water), then I would take the 3 stage unit. The floss filter will help remove the sediment before it plugs your carbon and RO. If the water is relatively clean (like it is in Vancouver, but there is an occasional main water line flush during the spring), then I would go for the cheaper 2 stage. In the future, you can always buy a floss filter for $30 at HD and make it a 3 stage unit.
I hope that helps.
- Victor.
