Low light / night pictures: has anyone tried?

Has anyone tried taking pics at night?

Cuz I have some really cool night things!! One is a tenticle/ tube like worm thing attached under a rock. About 10 inches long or more. It kinda looks like a conches mouth.
I may try my 35 mm camera but I haven't use a manual camera before.

Any advice/ info would be helpful.
