I have two of these skimmers, one used for the 150g reef and one for the former 104.72 lagoon. Oddly enough, the cup on one skimmer was quite easy to remove while the cup on the other was really hard to remove. I wonder if they figured this out in later productions and reduced the size of the o-ring holding the cup on. Anyway, with the skimmer that had the tough cup to remove I did a mod to the skimmer cup. The mod involves removing the o-ring and using a gasket instead. On one of these cups I also performed a mod to install a drain out of the skimmer cup.

For anyone wanting this skimmer you're welcome to any version of it, completely mod free or mods applied :-)

As for skimmate colour, both seemed to pull sufficiently dark skimmate in my opinion. I never really had a problem with its performance at all. I was quite happy with it on both the 150g and 104.72g. I would still be using it if I didn't add the extra 131g+ worth of volume to the system
