I don't normally find that little patches like that are a huge problem. I have a couple of colonies that have patches like that (due to a couple of nasty crabs). I just keep an eye on it and blow it clean with a turkey baster every day or so, so that algae doesn't develop too badly over it. Over time it should encrust over that area if it is healthy. If it is not healthy you'll know right away and it'll start to RTN or STN, and that's when you should start to consider snipping and fragging.

Keep an eye out also for crabs that might be lurking in the colonies and having a snack. Not the "good" acro crabs but usually the "nasty" gorilla crabs or the ones with the red beady eyes.
