just stride yourself over to whiterock, tsawwassen or like beaches frigid weather and all and turn over a few old rocks. i'll bet there'll be hoards of lil crabby friends clammering to make acquaintance with your mantis. i got most of my crabbies this way from around burrard inlet polluted water or not since i figure by the time any probable disease, parasite could be passed on to my mantis stable they would already have died of old age.
