![]() These are cool in theory but not so great pets in reality.
Main thing is to make your system totally, I mean TOTALLY, escape-proof. Octopi can escape from any opening that their beak can fit through. They also spend almost all their time hiding in a cave or hole so you'll never see them on a regular basis except at feeding time. They also have very short life spans, most live a year at most & then die after reproducing in the wild. You'll get one that is already several months old so you're buying a temporary "pet" at best. I had one for several months and we almost never saw it except when I tossed in some shore crabs for it to eat. Cool to have, but not really the Wow factor we thought it'd be before we bought it.
