Water spray on incandescent hood

Both the nanos here have open tops.
I keep my tank pretty full so that the 'waterfall' is shorter and produces less splash. I get more splash from bubbles than from the outflow itself, from an Aquaclear 150. The 10g in my son's room has a Mini and it is low-splash also - high water level.

But the hoods are both made to keep the bulbs about 4" off the water. Maybe this is more than the standard.
