I have been researching skimmers on the net and have narrowed it down to a few possibilies in my price range, here they are: 1. AE Tech super reef devil, rated up to 180 gallons, $200.00 2.Aqua Medic Turbo Floater 1000 with needle wheel pump, rated up to 250 gallons, $185.00 3. Tunze 0220.3, rated up to 400 gallons, $236.00 4.Pacific coast imports, PS-400P with needle wheel pump, rated up to 400 gallons, $190.00 For those of you that are familiar with these skimmers, any advice would be greatly appriciated. ![]() Just my $0.02's:
TurboFlotor is a piece. Built for the Dentist office or so it would seem. The design is overly complicated and hardly what I would call efficient (when compared to other skimmers that utilize the needle wheel). Contact time is bad, skimmate produced is just barely on par - wet to boot, and the venturi injection is what I'd call primitive. All this combined with the fact that you can't take the damn thing apart in case you ever need to service it - like icing on the cake.
