![]() So by some miracle, i'm hoping that my stand is going to be done this week.
In that case, I'm getting ready to move my tank. I'm wondering whats the best way to do so? Since its only a 38g, this is what I figured i'd do: get a 40-45g rubbermaid container, move all the rock, and water and inverts into the container. Put the heater, and one powerhead in there. Move the tank to the new location, add some more sand, and then move the rock back first, aquascape, then move half the water, fish/inverts, then the rest of the water? |

![]() Sounds about right!
Obviously, this might also be a good opportunity to do a water change, plus all the grunge that gets stirred up when removing rock, etc. What I did last time was use a small QT tank to hold my fish and some corals/rock. This allowed me to siphon off a fair bit of clean water prior to stirring everything up. Then I siphoned the bulk of the leftover water into my storage container that I placed the rock in. I tried not to disturb my sand much, but if you do this remember to have some tank support when moving the tank (if you keep the sand bed in it). Conversely, you could also remove the sand bed. Good luck, Rob |

![]() Are you able to carry 45G of water in one shot?
It might be better to use those Instant Ocean or Kent marine salt buckets for the move, I've moved twice and that's how I did it |

![]() I'm moving from one room to the other (about 15 feet away).
I'm gonna put the rubbermaid container on a skateboard, and just roll it from one room to another. I'll also be taking all the sand bed out. I want to properly put in the egg crate RIGHT at the bottom of the tank, and cover it with the sand that is currently in the tank, and another 15lbs of new sand with it. I'll probably mix the two together before I put it in. When I pump the water back into the tank, I'll cover the sand with a plastic bag, so the sand doesn't get too mixed up in the water. |

![]() Are you normally supposed to use egg crate in the bottom of the tank?
