HOw to remove Mushroom

Just a quick question, How do you guys remove mushrooms from a rock.. such as a Green Hairy Mushroom?

If you want to remove it permanently then i would just use a razor to cut it off then take the rock out of the water and brush off what ever is left of its stock or it will grow into a new mushroom or the easier way would just to put puddy over the stock therefore suffacating it, but it just doesnt look as nice or just take the rock out of the water for a few days to let it dry.
