Looking for almost everything for a 110gal
Hi there,
I am looking to set up a 110 gallon tank. So far I have -tank 72x18x28 -sump -skimmer -return pumps I need everything else such as -heater -power heads -led light -auto top off and ro water maker -chemistry meters etc Any advice to buy new or used or if you know of anything used for sale would be great. I am in Calgary for the May long weekend. Thanks in advance, Mike

On a system startup, since you have such a great expenditure to begin with, it doesn't make sense to cheap out on the cheap things. On a couple thousand dollars investment, don't try to save $5 on a used heater. Buy a new heater, test kits or checkers.
There are quite a few stores in Calgary that have everything you will need, depending on your choices. Powerheads can range from 20 bucks for cheap ones, to several hundred for more feature packed ones. I buy most of my hardware from Oceans Creation. They have good pricing, easy to deal with, and a nice store. ATO could be bought used, but not a lot of people tend to sell theirs, so they don't come up frequently until someone shuts down their tank. Stores in Calgary will usually sell the JBJ ATO. I have yet to see the Tunze one here. Alternatively, you can build your own with a little online shopping. LED's usually come in close to retail if unopened used. Not a lot of used LED fixtures for sale, but they pop up.
