| air stone? "Newbie question" should I be running an air stone in my Salt water tank? I currently have 2 power heads rippling the surface of the tank water and am using a protein skimmer HOB. I have a glass top covering most of the top, but is open at each end 2" from front to back and is open around the protein skimmer.

| Most people don't. It doesn't hurt the tank, but you probably get more than enough oxygen transfer from the surface of the water and a skimmer if you're running one.

| No, you don't need it, and the bubbles will give you killer salt build up!

| Salt creep - Exactly - with an airstone you will have difficulty seeing through your top glass after a few weeks. The spray from the bubbles bursting will coat the underside of your glass with calcium buildup reducing your light and creating more work for you. |
