Default going to be a long night tonight

my overflow plumbing that ive always hated popped apart and dumped 5g of water on to my foor. and on to my ceiling in the basement. hopefully it dosen't stain the ceiling to bad. but i will be so glad to dismantle this tank this is the 3rd spillage due to the way i had to plumb it.

some days it doesnt pay to get out of bed.

It's amazing how far 5gallons goes. I had my sump overflow 5 gallons of water and it soaked the carpet around the tank. I didn't know it would go that far. I could only imagine what would happen if my tank split or something :S

Sorry to hear about your carpet soaking. Hope all is going well.
I flooded my office last month with 5+ gallons during a sump-bulkhead test. Thankfully it was only freshwater, but I still had to pull everything out of the sump room and dry the plywood floor, underlay and carpet. And this only 1 month after new carpets.
My wife was pretty closed-mouthed about the whole thing. Needless to say she was not impressed, but at least it wasn't saltwater

Mold grows fast. When will you be able to check under the carpet?

When you do get around to moving the tank, you may want to rent a carpet blower to speed things up. I peeled the carpet back and ran the blower until the wood was dry. Then I layed the underlay over the fan for a day and another day with the fan between the underlay and carpet.

If you do have black mold, you should kill it right away. Use a mask and close the room off from the house. Open a window and let the furnace blow the air out, or some similar method. Use diluted rubbing alcohol in a sprayer and soak it gently so as not to get it airborne, then a scrub brush to remove it.
I've done this before and it works well.

tank cant be moved until i am ready to install the new tank stand. we have company coming in april and in july so i hope to be able to move the tank and the stand in between those times and have the new tank running by mid july. i was going to wait till fall but that isnt going to happen.

when the tank leaked 3 years ago and i moved everything aprox 20g of water there was no mold or anything. i do plan on renting a carpet cleaner at time of move plus i have to fix the wall since the stand has no back to it it wrecked the paint the salt bubbled it. so it will take a couple days for m to patch that up. ill have time to check the sub floor. hopefully all is well
