![]() http://www.seavisions.com/FISH/Lubbocksfairywrasse.jpg
I bought one of these and was told it is a Lubbock's Fairy wrasse. However, I've never seen a Lubbock's like this one before. I have another Lubbock's that looks like this: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...376&pcatid=376 In fact, every other Lubbock's I've seen has looked like this second fish. The first fish is from a Philippines shipment so just wondering if its a Philippines' variant of the Lubbock's? I know there are quite a few wrasse-lovers on here so I'm hoping someone has one as well or has seen one and knows if it is known by another name. I've had the fish for a couple of weeks now and it was very shy at first, but now it seems to have come to a truce with with my Blue Flasher and pair of Leopards in the tank. I like to know for certain (if possible) what fish I have so just thought I'd pose this question and see if my fellow Canreefers can help give me a positive ID on it. Thanks in advance. Anthony

![]() Scott Michael's "Reef Aquarium Fishes" shows the first picture you have posted as a Lubbock's fairy wrasse.
Yeah Brett, that's definitely not a Laboutei. I'm pretty sure the first one is a Lubbock's wrasse. Question is, what's the second one. |

![]() From what I found they are both lubbock wrasses. The first one is a striped lubbock and the second one is a multicoloured lubbock.

I would not. I would probably moan and complain, read three words and swear once or twice. But since you made it this far, please rate my builds. ![]() |

![]() OK. We'll go with Striped Lubbock's and Multicoloured Lubbock's then. Thanks.
One thing though is that they both have the same scientific/Latin name. That should indicate they are both the same species, but now it sounds like they are variants of the same species (perhaps geographic endemics or variants). Things that make you go hmmmmmm.
