Default Vertex Illumilux - Looks like a good step in LED for the masses.

Illumilux

Looks pretty sweet.

I'm thinking one of these over a DIY I was considering for my aquapod 12...

Anyone heard of or maybe even seen these yet?

Wonder what sort of front-to-back coverage these things provide. I like the small size and how they can connect end-to-end.

I've seen them

What did you need to know?

@ Brett

Each strip will cover a 4-6" space. Think of them as you would ~1.75 HOT5 strips.

PAR readings should be coming from Vertex by Mid-Feb. Colors will be in four flavors:

White-Royal Blue 50/50
Blue-Royal Blue 50/50
White-White
White-Red 50/50

Color data can be found here:

http://www.cree.com/products/xlamp_xpe.asp

LED's are driven at 2.5 W each (XP-E).

Im guessin youd need 2 or 3 even for an ap12 to get decent front to back coverage.

Loudest part of my system would be the nagging sound I hear on a regular basis about how much time and money I spend on the tank.

Ah, yeah, you'd probably want 1-2 units depending on what you're keeping and the type of rock work within the tank. 3 beams would be excessive, IMO, that's 45W of LED light which could easily burn most corals at the height of that tank.
