Default Potassium Question

What would having to high a potassium level do to coral?

It was suggested to me from a fellow reefer to overdose potassium a tad for really good PE on SPS. I have noticed great PE of some SPS and pretty good PE on others since overdosing. Probably not the best thing to do but I haven't noticed any ill effects. I have a 180 reef and usually dose for a 200G system. The overdosing isn't substantial but I have noticed better PE.

Are there any detrimental effects? The reason I'm asking is because I'm dosing a cap-ful of TA potassium a week, but I don't have a test kit so I'm wondering if it's worth it. I've got Great PE. as well, but my green Formosa looks a little weird, it's grown weird cup-like shapes around where some of the polyps come out and and sometimes makes slimy strands from these shapes. I was wondering if it may be caused by to much of something. Everything else is good.
