Default overflow help

is a 3/4inch pvc pipe capable of putting out 500gph at 3.5 feet
or do i need 1 inch its for a diy overflow and return and whats a good/cheap pump that can do 500 give or take 100 at the 3.5feet distance its acually 3.2 but figured rounding up cant be bad

though always see 1" is good for 600gph there's been some discussion on RC is it for a gravity or siphon (this thread post 1644 is a table)

siphon its from here http://www.angelfire.com/ab/rayjay/DIYoverflow.html and pump is a rio+ 1700 442gph @3ft thinking of making a small half ft shelf for the sump to sit on so i can get 500gph and going with 1" abs i think cuz i want black

although a 3/4" pipe would match the pump a little better going off the chart anyway
