I have been running a Velocity T4 for about a year now with no problems. They are virtually silent. If you couldn't see and hear the water moving you would never know it is running. They are said to run warm but this being my first pump I have nothing to compare it against. I just checked the temp of the pump casing and it is 34C.

34C? is that the casing of the pump or of the motor?

That is the temp of the motor housing. Not the impeller casing.

I bought mine at reefgeek.com, best price at the time. JL Aquatics has them now.

I looked at the pros and cons and decided to go with the MAK 4's as I have enough problems with heat right now so I don't need to add 3 more degrees from the velocities.
