Default Diseased Brain coral

guys - I picked this brain coral from a guy just to save it as it was doing REALLY bad. Yesterday it looked in bad shape but not diseased (I also fed it mysis shrimp). Today, part of it had something white stuff (instead of the tissue) that was gooey. To make sure that it doesn't spread I chopped the bad part of the coral off- including the rest of the affected head. The bad part stunk like a dead snail! The rest seems to be fine (2 heads).

Any ideas what it might have been? is it gonna spread? I am gonna make sure to pay special attention to all my corals in the next week or so!

Thanks!

Boomboy - I was trying to take a picture of it but the res was way too low! and now it is already gone (as I broke it off!) and hopefully not coming back!

Basically, it looked like a white fungus and it was super gooey and stinky!!! coudln't find anything similar to it online...

sounds like a secondary bacterial infection, wont hurt healthy corals.
