neon goby has turned red????

As per the title I have a friend that keeps a nano tank and he recently purchased a neon goby from Big Al's. I did not see the fish from the store, but I have seen it in his tank much to his concern and my amazement.

The goby is blaze orange/red!?

Again I did not see it from the store, but my friend says it was normal colour to start but now is red? Anyone know what / why this is?

my only guess is maybe some sort of mating call or signal, or maybe its from what he feeds the goby.

that's what worries me, a signal, like mad or scared!

what size tank is he in?

if he is in a tank larger than bout 30 gallons he probably will want some friends. a trio would be good.

but that might not have anything to do with the color
