lol magnapinna squid are pretty alien looking aren't they? in fact, do they remind anyone else of the walkers in war of the worlds?

edit: couldn't find a pic where the thing is bent down to show where the leg joints are

Probably have hip bone structures if you look close enough :P I know whales do.

whales are mammals though. these guys are squid (a cephalopod) and should only have a single calcareous "pen" through the length of their mantle (body). the tentacles shouldn't have bones... although we don't know jack about these guys, so if we were to catch one and find bones in there... that might make them an entirely new genus of cephalopod!
