Default My new Warner Marine skimmer!

I've never been a big believer in skimming the snot out of one's system so I've always stuck to skimmers which probably slightly undersized for my system such as a ER CS6-2 or my old Tunze venturi skimmer. But I've always wanted to see what a monster skimmer would or could do and I've always wanted to try a recirc skimmer. Well, now I have both in the form at a Warner Marine RX200!

It's a big sucka (please excuse the dirty laundry). Gonna have to do some reconstuctive sump surgery to shoehorn this guy in.

Sexy removable bubble plate. Note the machined concave holes.

Close up on the sch80 fittings.

Needlewheel in the sedra 9000HO. The exit has been bored out.

Tiny bubbles during initial cleaning with water and vinegar

Even with just vinegar and water the skimmer produces a very stable foam head

Going to put it to work in the next few days as soon as I get some spaflex from McKenzie (thanks, dude)

x4 ... I've been bugging some of my LFS's that already sell other Warner Marine products but no skimmers have shown up as yet.

I actually got it direct from Warner Marine. I had been bugging Jon Warner himself about getting a Canadian distributor when he offered this skimmer up to be the first one in Canada. I leapt at the opportunity and he pretty much sold it to me at wholesale. To be clear (and to Warner's credit) the skimmer came with no strings attached so I can report on it any way I wish.

Warner Marine does not to direct retail so this was a very exceptional circumstance - I guess I got lucky being the most annoying Canadian.

However, Jon did say that they are working on getting their skimmers up to Canada so you should see them hitting our stores soon.
