![]() Bought a 30 gal (i think) from golds about 2 years ago... ne 1 know if the glass on these tanks is tempered? or are they safe to drill?

![]() Especially on something like a 30gal, I would guess that unless you specifically asked for tempered that it likely isn't. If anything the bottom might be, but I'd be super surprised if the sides were. (Since tempering the glass costs extra..) Just a complete guess though. One trick you can try, if you can find a set of polarized sunglasses, put them on and look at the glass. If you can see a wavy pattern in the glass that you can't see without the polarized sunglasses, then the glass is tempered. If it looks exactly the same then it probably isn't tempered.
I suppose you could always call up Dennis and ask if their tank builder ever uses tempered glass. (Edit: wait, was this a custom tank built for you or something off the shelf? I guess if it wasn't a custom tank then your best bet is to find out the brand .. or do the polarized sunglasses trick.)
