When we first started the discussions on having monthly dinner meetings, it was agreed that setting every third Wednesday fit most peoples itinerary the best. We also agreed that we would host the dinners in different parts of the city to help accommodate everyone. To host the dinners in various area around town we needed suggestion as to places where the dinner meetings could be held. To this point we have not had many suggestions.

The reason I asked is i would love to participate but I am in the office usually until 10pm on Wednesdays. I figured that there was a reason for the decision since every dinner event was on a Wednesday.
Just as a suggestion though, the Boathouse on English Bay (or at it's other locations) is a great restaurant. Shabusen (for those that like Korean BBQ or sushi) is great too. Both have very sociable and mature (semi-mature in the case of Shabusen) environments for people to carry on conversation, eat and drink. EDIT: Old spaghetti factory I Mean, not pizza factory LOL in New west is also good. Good wine list and it is decently priced.

We look for a restaurant that has the ability to seat 15 to 20 people in a separate room or area and we must be able to stay as long as we want. Most restaurants like the Boathouse are nor prepared to allow us to stay all evening, they are required to turn their tables a number of time a night.

and though i absolutely love Shabusen it also likes to turn over the tables. Just to give you an idea, our dinners usually start @ 6:30-7 and some stay as late as 10-11. Its also a time when we can meet up and just chat with friends you don't get to see to often.

Yes always open for new restaurant Ideas. But they need to meet some requirements
1) needs to accommodate a large group 2) needs to allow us to stay after the meal is over 3) table should be set-up so that you can be involved in more than just the conversation with the person next to you (not a deal breaker) 4) can't be ultra high end or expensive. This is why we tend to be at pubs a lot. They don't mind lingering guests J |
