Default Tube worm shed its crown

Has anyone ever encountered a Hawaiian tube warm that suddenly shed its feathery crown? what may cause it?

Mine lost his last week and is growing a new one. seems to be Ok although i have no idea why he shed it in the first place. I have had other tube worms lose thier crowns in the past but the outcome wasnt nearly as good

A day after mine lost his crown he was dead. Appeared very healthy prior to that happening. Good luck tho.

Sometimes they just loose them.

Often is is a sign of stress or that the worm is starving.

They sometimes grow the crown back. Other times they die. If it grows it back don't worry unless it loses it again within a month or two.

Good luck

I had a feather duster lose its crown and it is in the process of growing it back. If the worm is healthy you will be amazed at how fast the crown grows back. Just leave it alone and watch. I thought ours was dead at first because all we could see was the tube closed off, but it came around. Give it time.
