Default mercury vapor lights

one of the shovels are no good at our mine so im thinking of salvaing some lights off it. there 10 000k 500 watt lights would they work for a reef? or do you think they would be too hot?

They suck don't use them.

Why though, if the spectrum is right, is it the PAR for bulb wattage?

The Iwasaki 6500K bulbs are mercury vapor bulbs IIRC. Though I've never seen a 500W bulb before.
