Default pump on other side of sump hole (external)

Is it OK to have your pump on the oposite side of your hole in your sump? (external pump) It will be a 6 foot travel for the water to the pump then up.

Does this make sense, does in my head. LOL

You meaning something like the hole is on one side of the sump you wrap piping around the sump to the other side externally, going to the pump, sure would work. Just remember you don't restrict intakes to pumps so keep the intake line up in size.
