You should see both a starphire tank and a regular glass tank of the same glass thickness that you are planning to get "in action" before deciding. Generally speaking: the thicker the glass, the bigger the difference with starphire that I've seen.

Hi. Welcome to Canreef.

I have had several tanks made by Jayson, as large as 225g and all were top quality. Several of my friends also have one of his tanks. As for the starfire, Jayson did build me a 180g cube shape with a starfire front. The cost was not much more.

It certainly was not as green and a bit clearer. 1/2in. glass though and not 5/8th. which I assume will be the minimum for yours. However as Mike mentioned, we scratched it easier than regular glass would scratch, so if doing starfire, be aware when cleaning, thats all. I think we had some grit in the cleaning cloth.

I do have a smaller 45g cube done by Ewing, and it was good work.

I just picked up my second custom tank from him, absolutely nothing but great work.
