picked this up at the LFS this week. I know, I know, dont buy things without knowing what they are. Crucify me now and get it over with.

It reacts to disturbance quite actively. There is a base, about the size and shape of a small walnut. The exterior of the base is textured much like a coconut. When disturbed, the entire top retracts into the base in about 1-2 minutes. When fully retracted, there is only a small hole at the top of the base left. I have the base buried in the substrate as the textured surface looks to be like an anchor to hold it in place in the substrate.

When undisturbed and expanded, it will be expanded both day and night. Polyps open during the day and are usually closed at night.

The guy at the LFS did not know what it was called and could only tell me it came in with an order from Sulawesi. Has anyone seen this before? Behavior leads me to beleive it is photosynthetic. Any ideas on max size, feeding, etc?

Thank you in advance, and here is a picture for your viewing...

And here is a shot of it closed up.
