Default Anyone use blogger?

I've used blogger on my website for about 3 years now. Gujustud helped me set it up (I'm a bit duh when it comes to this stuff) but I haven't seen him around and I think he got out of the hobby awhile ago.

I'm currently trying to switch everything over from Telus to Shaw. For some reason it won't update any of my blogs.

For those in the know, these are the settings:

FTP server: ftp.shaw.ca
Blog URL: http://members.shaw.ca/seamonkey68
FTP Path: <-- this is where I'm a bit confused.
Blog filename: index3.html
Feed filename:axom.html

I'm not really sure of the path as when I log into my account using WS FTP it just takes me to the folder I have my stuff in, there is no public_html file or anything like there was with Telus.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Okay - I've been out of doing server stuff for a while, but oy - We'll figure this out.

When you FTP into Shaw, it'll bring you straight to the "public_html" directory, that first area is what you'd get to by going to members.shaw.ca/seamonkey68

So any of the blog files that should be in the "root" or "public_html" directory go right into there.

Make sense?

Yes that does make sense. However I've tried changing the FTP path to "public_html" without success.

I did however note on the shaw website that if you are not on the shaw network (for example, I can't seem to access it at work) you can't upload to your website. I'm wondering if this applies to programs like blogger as well.

Ah - you're trying to upload remote to shaw, that's your issue - Shaw has become VERY particular now with regards to who uses their servers. You can't check your email remotely without using their webmail.

Almost guaranteed that's your issue, only recommendation I have is to call Shaw to see if they have any options for third parties logging in to the FTP site, but like they told me with the email thing, chances are they'll give you nothin'

**edit - why not look at cheap/free hosting options? Paying 2 or 3 a month might be worth it to get that freedom?

man that sucks, going back to telus really isn't an option (don't have a landline phone anymore, just a cell phone). Guess I'll have to look into having it hosted. Any suggestions for places to look into?

Thanks for your help

I've heard some good things about:
http://www.wbws.net/

And they're only $5 a month - not a bad deal for what's offered. But you'd have to register your own domain name, which would be all of 5 or 6 a year - Godaddy is the way to go, use code Dawn, Drew, or DD3 to save some bling (doesn't go to me, btw )
