Default Tiny brittle stars as food?

Just watched my Sailfin chow down in a brittle star. Is this a comon food item?

Nothing in my tank ever seems to eat them.
I've actually seen them spit out for that matter.

all this talk of brittle stars lately. kinda a strange coincidence when I noticed them for the first time a couple days ago in my own tank...
