Sump tank

I am going to use a "rubbermaid" for a sump. Which brand/s are known to be safley used in a reef tank? Thanks.

I'm using a rubbermaid tub as a sump. It was the only decent sized container I could fit under my sherman tank of a stand

The only thing I've found with rubbermaids is they do tend to bow out under the pressure of containing water -- I would look into adding some kind of bracing for support.

Thanks guys. I just have to go to Walmart or Zellers and do some shopping now. I guess I could frame it with 2"x2" or something. As long as it doesn't bow to much I should be able to baffle the sump.

Hi,

I have a rubbermaid sump and it has leaked twice. The problem is some rubbermaid tubes have little L shaped feet on the corners. On mine, the L feet inverted due to the weight and it cause it to leak. With some interesting duct tape and silicone, I was able to control the problem. To keep the bowing under control, I just place the rubbermaid top on the tub and drill hole in the top to get access to the tub.
