Default Playing with tank dimensions. Need some help.

I am no good with tank dimensions or planning them out as I don't have barely any experience with it. I do know I want a cube.

It has to be a size that can be lit only by 250w HQI . So depth and what not will come into play. I don't want the light to lose much intensity once it reaches lower in the tank. Seeing as I WILL have a carpet anemone, the intensity needs to be good so it will reach the anemone. I think length should stay the same as my current 20g (which I forget that dimension .. crap) Anyone know the size for a standard 20g tank?

Sooo.... has to be the same length as my 20g. (so I can use my current stand.. )

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

length x width x height = x

divide by 231 = gallons

ie 24x24x24/231=60 gallons

Hmm... I'd like something a little bigger than that... that works out to about 27g , correct? I was thinking of somewhere alogn the lines of 50g or so.

I should have specified that in the first post. Sorry about that.

It's hard for me to come up with tank dimensions .. I am no good at visualizing how it would look.

Thanks for your suggestion

20G would be 24x12½x17

Id go with 24x24x20 or maybe even 28x28x20 if you could afford the tank sticking out from the wall a bit more.
