Yeah mine was like that too.

I have dual 175wat 10K MH's & dual 40wat Actinic's.

I'm thinkin mine hates actinic's... cause seems to be o.k if actinic's not on or it just hate light period....seems to keep crawling away from any spot of light. Its fav place is under a big rock where its shady. I have a LTA as well that never moves. So I'm thinkin perhaps just this RBTA is fussy.

Also it faded alot...with mind being just gorgorous when I got also having a green center... it almost looks like the tips are more purple now and faint red color almost sheer. Any thoughts?

Was thinking maybe I should sell mine...perhaps it would like someone else tank. hmm...

If I get a chance I will post before and after pic's later tonight.

Unfortunately this poor guy received a bit of a beating due to a poorly placed powerhead. When I first seen what happened I thought there was no hope for him. But he is still kicking, he does look a little beat up though.

As for the color fading. It has not faded at all, but it has developed a deeper green hue at the base of its tenticles and around its mouth.

I will post some before and after pictures of the incident later tonight.

Sorry to hear... but BTA's seem to be pretty darn hardy.

I did get myself an RBTA.. no bubble tips like that yet though, nor from any other BTA I have... they used to bubble up all the time.

Mine is a very pinky/orangy mix.. with neon purple tips on the end of it's tentacles. Mine also developed a more green/turqoise color near it's base since being in my tank.

Hope it makes it through.
