Default new lights

so, i broke down and bought myself a 2x250w hqi ballast I plan on running sun aquatics 10000k bulbs with it for now with uri 10000k vhos. yes..some might say that's odd, but it's what I have now, until I can afford another "upgrade" i will run it as that. Then plan is to eventually run 2 10000k t5s, and 2 actinic t5s with the halides on for only a few hours (6-8) for bright mid-day effect. with the 10000k t5s on for about 12 hours, etc.

yay, me so happy.

can anyone give me tips about what kind of fan I should use? It's in a tall DIY canopy with about 9" clearance from bulb to water..I'm interested to know what kind of movement people are running for 2x250w setups...I'm currently looking at some fans that do 120cfm 1 in 1 out..will that be enough..there are some that do 200+ cfm but I imagine they'll make my tank sound like it's lifting off?

Thanks.

I would say at least one in one out....I personnaly would go 2 in 2 out of the 120 cfm fans....you can never have to much cooling for your lights!

lies.

my 126cfm fans drop my tank to 72 if I leave them on at full strenght, even with the lights on.. so I turned them down to 7.5 volts instead of 12v. seems to keep the tank within a degree throughout the day.

Whats your ambient room temperature? That seems like a pretty big drop to me.
