Default ESHOPPS PSK175

Hey guys
Bought this skimmer on boxing day for a pretty good deal...
However I'm already thinking of "modding" it.

I want to replace the Sicce pump for a DC pump with a needle wheel that's slightly larger as this one doesn't quite make very fine bubbles.

It's a brand spanking new and its spitting out 1/4" to 1/2" bubbles.
What do you guys think... venturi blocked or clogged ? still breaking in ?

I ran it in the sink ( freshwater ) submersed it until the pump was covered as per instructions ( 8 - 10" water depth ) and the flow was marginal. pump issue ?

You won't get the same bubble production in fresh water as you do in salt.
