Default kick that ick

after useing garlic mix to help with a ick problem i had many months ago and found it to worked very well i have tried useing it again on my naso tang, but after two weeks of its food being soaked in garlic juice there is still a serious ick problem,it doesnt seem to be bothering him all that much but how long does useing garlic normally work, and is there much else i can do at this point other than removeing the fish from the tank.

Removing the tang will only stress him and the ick is already in the tank, so it is probably best to just carry on with the garlic feed him lots of veggies and hope for the best

Default ick

I dont know if it will help or if your against medications but i had a pretty serious ick problem that knocked off a number of my fish before i realized that i had ick. my yellow tang, which i still have, had it extremely bad and i figured he was done for. i tried product called "kick ick" made by "rally"(i think its spelled that way) and it cured it all up. its also safe for a reef tank and none of my pollyps were affected by it. the only draw back is its price....i think it was about $65 for a bottle. that lasted me the 14 days to complete the cycle according to instructions. i have a 54 gallon tank so if you have a smaller aquarium you wont have to use as much. just a thought.

Only two proven methods to rid Ich,

Hyposalinity & Copper. Both needs to be treated in a QT tank away from any inverts.

Other methods I have tried, like Kick Ich by Rally (waste of money) which didn't work for me. I had also tried the garlic method which helps but doesn't fix the problem.

You could try to give the tang a FW bath (Same PH, same Temp as tank) and this helps relieve the ich, BUT you will be putting the fish back in the infected tank that will become infected again, so it kind of defeats the purpose and stresses out the fish.

Do a search on reef central they have great articles filled with this subject.
