			 so I just hooked up my sump and had everthing running good  skimmer was getting nice  green goop lol life was good  but when I added a 100 micon water filter sock  my skimmer went on over load and foaming over and the skimmer is at the highest setting for hight any thoughts  I removed the sock and shut off my return pump  should I have washed the sock out first ?

			 This is common when adding new filter socks they come with some stuff on them from the factory that makes the skimmer go crazy the first time you use them, its completely harmless just annoying and should settle down in a but  
		
	
		
		
		
		
			you can try to rinse it out with tap water before putting them in to help

			 For some reason I still get that after washing the socks over and over, but its not enough to make the skimmer go nuts. Just an increase in skimmate for about an hour.
