Hey guys so my sump cracked and I had to empty it and take out the DSB. I want to put it back to the new sump but how should I do it?

Are you starting with new sand. I would shut it down add sand let it settle for the day and fire it up.

Old sand I would isolate the sump and run it alone circulating it back to itself then you can sort out any stirred up nutrients detritus and h2s that may have accumulated. |

Do you really feel it was doing anything? Might be a good time to ditch it all together.

Yeah I was thinking of probably ditching it and adding more live rock...

I have a huge bio-load (breeding fish) high nitrates Sucks my sump cracked but it also gave me opportunity to make it better. Any suggestions? Roughly 200g total water volume. I have a vertex250 skimmer and around 50lbs live rock, and lots of chaeto. |

If I were you I would do a remote sand bed. Rinse your existing sand in RO/DI water and do a remote sand bed
